My encounter, as Yuichi Kodai, with the memorable architecture is the tea room in Kenninji Temple, Kyoto. Since I was a child, I learned tea ceremony and flower arrangement, and through the process, I have come into contact with the crystals of various Japanese architectural spaces. Growing up near the Katsura Imperial Villa, and delivering newspapers to the Imperial Villa office, I always longed for the gardens and buildings behind the fence. I still remember the excitement I experienced when I finally visited it at the age of 20 years old.

Claudia and I both went to college where the members of Archigram were the principals. Although they were different universities, Ron Heron and Peter Cook cultivated the importance and expression method of pursuing architectural dreams, future possibilities, and excitement. Through our experience at the Swiss architectural firm Herzog & de Meuron and American firm KPF, we are working to realize the influence in various ways.

We are conscious of creating ever-flowing spaces that have a story to tell regardless of project type or scale. We perceive notional connections between spaces through site-specific environmental conditions. We are not afraid to propose spaces that can be experienced through carefully com-posed proportions and chosen materials regardless of indoor-outdoor transition. We love to use all of our past experiences in architecture, art, and landscape to create a comprehensive experience.
