Having been born and raised in Tokyo, I began to question the rapidly changing urban environment. And the question led me to choose the path of architecture with a desire to create a better environment.

I belonged to the design laboratory at university, and at the design department of Takenaka Corporation, I was involved in various projects including international ones. Furthermore, I was interested in learning diverse approaches to creating architecture and urban environments worldwide, so I moved to the UK in 1999.

At the AA School where I studied, I researched the movement, time, and spatial use within urban networks. After graduating, I had been involved in design work at Hopkins Architects to implement the research findings into practice. During that time, significant changes had been observed in the UK's architecture industry, including advancements in building performance, approaches to existing buildings, promotion of BIM (Building Information Modeling), and urban renewal. These changes highlighted the increasing necessity for collaboration in the architectural design process.

I would like to contribute to the development of Japan's architecture and urban culture by advancing and applying environmentally conscious architectural design methods, strategies for utilizing existing buildings including heritage conservation, and design approaches of master planning that I had practiced in the UK to the architectural design and production processes in Japan.
